This is a cool-looking picture from the Times of Radiohead’s stage show at All Points West, but was it enough to make the Jersey City festival live up to the legacies of the big festies like Bonnaroo and Coachella?  It sounds like it was kinda lame from this NY Times article.  No camping, an annoying commute and strict alcohol rules are the kind of things that would make this festival experience very different to the Shangri-La atmosphere of the big ‘uns.

So, did anyone go?  Was it as lame as it seems from the outside?  Was Radiohead awesome enough to pull this one out of the ditch?

It couldn’t have been better than Frances at Union Hall in Park Slope on Saturday night, who opened for the fairly-snoozey Rogue Wave!  Frances totally brought it!  Keep your eyes on these guys.

It was pretty lame, especially the wait/lines for the ferry to get there. Although Radiohead were amazing, the festival line-up was pretty uninteresting.

Considering it was my first festival (I know I know), I had such a blast. However, I did get heated at the security men acting like police and not allowing people to even stand around! Also, the beer situation was horrible from what I heard.

As far as the music, I think the sound quality was top notch (especially Radiohead) and the stage was enormous! As for the set list is concerned, I didn’t know most of the artists and frankly, I wasn’t too impressed. Radiohead was who I went for and were hands-down phenominal. That was my first time seeing them as well!! I definitely wouldn’t say it was lame.

Sounds cool, Anonymous 1:00! First fest and first Radiohead show! I’ve been to a couple fests but still haven’t seen Radiohead. I’m the guy who hasn’t really gotten into them so much like everyone else. Maybe it’ll click after the first time I see them live.

I wonder how the Kings of Leon set was. Now, that’s a band I can get behind!

I thought APW was a great show, the line up was interesting and the sound was crisp on every stage.
Ya the drinking thing was tight but there was no smoking enforcement, seeeen!
The food was good and Radiohead was worth it, well so was the The Roots, and Kings of Leon, and Ben Harper, and and and.. much better than Bonawho?

Hey, I dug the festival. It is true some of the bands were dialin’ in performances, and the cost of the show was a bit steep for the caliber of the talent; but hey, JC was really rockin’ last weekend.

For some cool pics of APW, follow the links:

Glad you dug the fest. It’s nice to hear some good reports. Who the hell is JC though? Not the son of God dude, right?

  • David Rheins Says:

JC = Jersey City, the site of Liberty State Park & APW. I cannot confirm or deny that the son of God rocks.
