Panopticon360 is an original live music webseries that features bands of wildly diverse musical style performing live sets filmed with 360 degree, panoramic video cameras. Sessions are filmed in recording studios, at live shows, art galleries and other unique spaces. No two episodes look or sound the same.

Panopticon360 has worked with some of the most acclaimed and creative bands in indie-rock, including noise-pop experimentalists Pterodactyl, highly acclaimed metal trio Tombs, psych-metal revivalists La Otracina, and improvisational rock veterans Endless Boogie.

Well, it certainly was a highpoint of my radio career when I welcomed the absolutely legendary and newly-inducted Rock Hall member, Donovan, to Beyond Beyond is Beyond on East Village Radio. Needless to say, I’m a big fan!

Originally I thought this interview would be a phoner, but since Donovan was coming to NYC the week after the Rock Hall induction ceremony, he was gracious enough to stop by the EVR studio LIVE! So I won’t waste much more of your time with my fanboy account and hook you up with the links and vids.

One of my favorite musical artists ever will be stopping by East Village Radio for a chat on Thursday. And it’s me he’ll be chatting with! So long as I can calm down my inner fanboy and keep it together.

On Saturday, Scottish singer, songwriter, guitarist and psychedelic poet, Donovan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…a move that certainly gives the institution a little more credibility.

Donovan’s mark on the world of music is incredible and he is one of the most unique wordsmiths I’ve ever heard. I mean, dig this one small entry from the volumes of genius shit he has put together:

You are the one”

So tune in to Beyond Beyond is Beyond on NYC’s own East Village Radio, online at a special time, 2pm on Thursday (4/19). Donovan and I will chat about everything from his recent Rock Hall induction to meditating with the Beatles in India to dueting with Alice Cooper…and beyond!

The two killer garage-psych acts have combined on a fantastic new album called Hair, due out on April 24th on Drag City Records. You’re gonna want this one if you’re anything like me. And potentially even if you’re nothing like me.

Dig a little taste of Ty Segall & White Fence together performing “Scissor People” from the upcoming collabo. Talk about “fuck yeah!”

In this episode of Room 205, the two have teamed up with friends Mikal Cronin (bass) and Nick Murray (drums) to deliver a sonic freakout par excellence.

On Friday night I got the fantastic opportunity to kick off an amazing night of music at Dominion NY, helmed by live sets from Friend Roulette, Quilt and Amen Dunes, by listening to Mike Wexler‘s new album Dispossession in the venue’s posh lobby with some good pals and a nice buzz.

Turned out to be a magical way to ease into the evening. But this Thursday afternoon (noon-2pm EST), on the heels of Dispossession‘s release date, Mike Wexler will stop by my East Village Radio show to perform live for us. So that would be absurd to miss.

The upcoming White Hills album, Frying on This Rock, might be my favorite White Hills album to date. Its riffs are fantastically fuzzed-out and pleasingly pounding, and its grooves are at times motorik and other times lusciously left of the pocket. Synths are added to spatially-stellar affect and the Martin Bisi production is top-notch. Definitely a transportative album. And no, I don’t care that transportative isn’t a word on this dimension, because that’s not where I am when listening to Frying on This Rock.

The album is due out on March 20th on Thrill Jockey records, so pre-order your white or pink vinyl here!

“The video for ‘Pads of Light’ was filmed in Manhattan mostly over a period of 5 of the coldest days in January 2011. This is our homage to New York City—the place we live and work. I chose to cover as much of the island as possible at a high speed to create a sense of effortlessness within the massive urban jungle. NYC is a manic depressive’s reality: cruel and unforgiving when your luck is down yet electrifying when the pendulum swings. To survive here requires grace, flexibility and determination: a lithe spirit, a state akin to walking on Pads of Light.”
