Umm, do yourself a favor and download this brilliant compilation of George Harrison’s Beatles output over here at Never Get Out of the Boat! What more wisdom could you need this weekend? You have all the albums already but you never pulled all the George songs and arranged them in chronological order like Willard did. What’s your favorite George song anyway? Right now I’m loving “I Me Mine”. Gotta love this amazing artwork too! Be sure to leave some nice comments for Willard while you’re there. Go get it…
Well, the first show of the long-anticipated Van Halen reunion tour started last night in Charlotte, NC and God said “It was good”! The reports on Wolfgang have been positive too, although it would be that much cooler with Mikey in the reunion. The setlist looks amazing and the boys are in top form. Maybe I’ll end up getting a chance to see ‘em when they add some more NY/NJ dates. The MSG and Nassau Coliseum shows sold out immediately. Get all the info below… (picture and video from their last ‘invited rehearsal’, not the Charlotte show)…

Looks good to me. Check out Hidden Track’s VH tour inauguration coverage. There’s a setlist over there, so be warned, Senor Surprise. And be sure to check out Rolling Stone’s story and awesome pictures.
All right, enough about Van Halen already! How about the ATLANTIC ANTIC festival this Sunday on Atlantic Ave. in my ‘hood. The best of all the street fairs in NY. Eating, drinking, and must-see music down by Hicks outside Magnetic Field! You really should see Mary Weiss and the Black Hollies (and I’m sure the others are great too… Lee knows how to pick ‘em)! Check it…

That’s all for now. See you at the Antic.

So, RT’s gonna be starting its seventh round later in the week after a short hiatus. But in the meantime, here’s some answers to some of the more befuddling question of Round 6. And a big congrats to Sue on being the first person to whose name does not start with an ‘M’ to win at NewmRadio’s Rock Trivia.
Well, excuse me if I’ve been a little slow at blogging this past week. I just got a new 160 gig iPod and I’ve been relentlessly adding music to it… and photos. I’ve got 40 gigs filled so far. That was the full storage capacity of my old one. Anyway, the big news is that good-old Marshallyard Sue won the latest Rock Trivia round and she is currently enjoying her cash and prizes, while laying on a beach in an expense-paid resort in Jamaica. Okay, maybe not…but she did win something! Congrats, Sue. So, here’s some stuff…
I found this political art photo by Brian Ulrich on David Byrne’s blog and thought it was friggin’ genius! Here’s some stuff that is less genius, but definitely noteworthy…
OK, this may be equally genius… Stephanie Skaff’s Make Me One With Everything free art from a vending cart. It’s happening now so check it out.
Van Halen reunion pics galore!
Now there’s the Beatles Hate album. Hear it all here.
Jack White duets with Dylan at a recent Dylan gig.
Here’s a new Frances vid that I shot at Southpaw last week… pardon the sound. Some pics from Frances and also Erin P’s birthday party last week.
Hidden Track has all your Austin City Limits festival coverage.
Chris Goes Rock has your download of the week… it’s Slade’s first album when they were known as Ambrose Slade.

Here’s the Wikipedia skinny on Yom Kippur for my gentile brethren. It starts tonight. I will be in the comforting arms of Storahtelling. And here’s the Kol Nidre by the Electric Prunes (and David Axelrod) to kick off the atoning festivities…

Who recorded “Atlantis” in 1969?
That’s right! From all the guilty lists that you all posted, I chose one from Dave’s to be the next Case for Collins entry today. This one just spoke to me especially since Michael McDonald has made somewhat of a comeback in popularity, although much of it seems to be for irony’s sake; unless perhaps there was a true reverence for Mr. McD’s original blue-eyed soul vocals in the Yacht Rock series, or even in the movie The 40-Year Old Virgin. Whatever the case may be, many of us NewmRadio subscribers dig us some Mike McD-era Doobie Brothers, so that’s what I gots for ya today. Orinially from the 1976 album Takin’ It To the Streets, the first album with Mr McDonald. Dig the smoooooothhhh….

All right now. I’ve got a seriously deep cut here from an equally deep band. I have recently over the past several months, fallen in love with the self-titled album by a short-lived band from the late-60′s called Mighty Baby. They are sometimes described as sort of the Grateful Dead or Buffalo Springfield of England, but of course no where near as well-known as either. Well before they were Mighty Baby, they were The Action, and 5 tracks by The Action are included at the end of this brilliant Mighty Baby album. And for a good hearty chuckle, look at what I found while doing some research (you should notice a certain name pop out a few paragraphs in, just above the ‘contents’ box). Dig this tune by The Action and then let me know if you wanna hear a Mighty Baby tune next…

What was The Slits first album (1979)?
All right…coming off of that first edition of The Case for (Phil) Collins, I’ve been thinking a lot about what people consider ‘guilty pleasures’. I have a hard time using the word ‘guilty’ when it comes to appreciating music. It’s either pleasurable to you in some way or it’s not. So, I ask of you, can you present us with 5 of your guilty listening pleasures? Maybe even throw in one ‘innocent pleasure’ at the end…someone that you love to listen to that hardly anyone would argue with unless they’re a total grump-dog. So that’s six items total, after the jump…
