Brooklyn’s own Minerva Lions are gonna come perform live on Beyond Beyond is Beyond on Thursday, of course on East Village Radio from noon to 2pm eastern time. I first heard the band’s praises from a number of pals. First from Miss Nicole Atkins, then from Julian Woolsey of Perfect Prescription and Rock Edition fame, and last but not least, Sam Davis at Relix and Dog Gone Blog.
Now I’ve finally heard Minerva Lions’ new EP, Great Strides, Priestess and Queen for myself and am quite excited for the Lions’ live action!
So come along on the listening adventure on Thursday, July 7th from noon to 2pm (est) on Beyond Beyond is Beyond on East Village Radio!
*And make sure to catch Minerva Lions when they play Beyond Beyond is Beyond presents…in Riverside Park, along with Endless Boogie, on July 31st*
Early 2011, Swedish pop-psych band La Fleur Fatale, whom I have championed for the last couple years now, visited NYC to appear on Beyond Beyond is Beyond and do three live shows in NYC and Brooklyn. This is the brilliant documentary they put together of that trip. And it features yours truly. Dig…

I’m really psyched to welcome the Donkeys to Beyond Beyond is Beyond on Thursday, May 26th. The Californian’s are on an East Coast tour to bring some sunshine jammery to our rainy metropolis…and other Eastern metropoli. Here are the NYC dates:
THURSDAY 05/26/2011: (with Citay!)
Cake Shop, 152 Ludlow
New York, New York 10002
FRIDAY 05/27/2011:
The Rock Shop
Brooklyn, NY
The Donkeys new Dead Oceans release, Born With Stripes is a phenomenally-textured listen, which starts with this tune below…and proceeds to take you on a fantastic hazy, psych-tinged, country-rock safari over the next 45 minutes. An album that truly plays as an album.
The Donkeys-Don’t Know Who You Are
So check them out for an in-studio live performance and chat on Thursday’s Beyond Beyond is Beyond show on East Village Radio, Thursday from noon to 2pm (EST)…

I’m excited to announce that our friends in far-outedness, White Hills, will be joining me on Beyond Beyond is Beyond on East Village Radio for a chat and live ambient performance! It all goes down Thursday, May 19th between noon and 2pm (EST) on EVR.com.
On June 21st, White Hills new album, H-p1, will be released on Thrill Jockey.
Musically, H-p1, White Hills second full-length for Thrill Jockey, expands on the explorations of previous albums in ambience, noise, and space rock all led by guitarist Dave W.’s blistering guitar solos. This is the most fully realized White Hills album to date and the one that takes them furthest from their pure space rock roots. It is also their most angry record. It is a reaction to what White Hills sees as government co-opted and controlled by corporations. It is a wake up call.
Well, that was rad-ass!

I’m very psyched to welcome the awesome Swedish pop-psychsters, La Fleur Fatale to Beyond Beyond is Beyond on Thursday! I’ve been diggin’ these cats for a couple years now and awaiting the time that they made their first venture to these here United States.

And now is the time. As you can see from the flier, BBiB is the very first performance that they’ll do in America. So be sure to tune in Thursday at noon eastern to East Village Radio…on the great new popup player. Then come out to Perfect Prescription at Shea Stadium that night and see their first full U.S. live show ever…and catch me DJ’ing there too. Lots of fun to be had on a Thursday! See ya’s then.

Rockin’ Detroiters, The Sights have a great new record on Alive Naturalsound Records called Most of What Follows Is True. And they’re gonna be at Brooklyn’s Bell House Friday night (2/18) with the Reigning Sound!
But prior to that, they’ll stop by for a live session and a chat on Beyond Beyond is Beyond on East Village Radio. So come along on Thursday at noon eastern and see…I mean hear… The Sights!
Beyond Beyond is Beyond will celebrate its 100th show on East Village Radio this Thursday! And it’s also pretty much the 2-year mark for the show.

So other than celebrating by rubbing bbibirthday cake all over my chest, which will probably be lost on radio listeners, I will be spinning all kinds of music that I played on my first 3 shows. Stuff from the likes of CCR, Hawkwind, Bubble Puppy, Bryan Scary, Yes, Wishbone Ash, Aphrodite’s Child, Juicy Lucy, Syd Barrett, Ween and Agitation Free.
And not only that, on a sad note, I will pay tribute to the late great legendary blues-rock guitarist, Gary Moore who just passed away on Sunday, February 6th. I’ll play stuff from his bands Skid Row, Colosseum II, solo and his absolute best guitar work with Thin Lizzy. Do you know what Lizzy song that appears on? Let’s listen to it on Thursday together (noon to 2pm ET)…and celebrate the 100th BBiB show on EVR!

Nicole Atkins was on the show a couple months back and she and her killer guitarist, Irina, blew the glass doors off the East Village Radio studio with a couple of amazing live tunes. If you don’t believe me or you done missed it, check ‘em out here. Nicole has a fantastic new album coming out on February 8th called Mondo Amore and she and her band, The Black Sea will soon be out on extensive tour. Check all the dates on her site and catch them live…because they rule live!
So tune in Thursday at noon eastern to Beyond Beyond is Beyond on East Village Radio and listen to Nicole and I spin some of our favorite records. Nicole’s got great taste in jams…and preserves too. And dig this album cover. Talk atcha Thursday!
