Well, here’s the first, and hopefully last, ammendment to my Best Albums of 2008 post. Late last night I totally realized that I had left this absolute 2008 gem off of my list…and I knew it was a crime. So here it is…you’ve heard me talk about these guys a couple times before in 2008…it’s Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears with their brilliant Flight of the Knife!
Flight of the Knife is a poppy prog-like concept album, full of complex and quirky arrangements, which are all irresistably catchy and satisfying. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up…you will be pleasantly surprised that such a new band has the chops to pull this kind of music off and has the balls to make something this unique these days.
All right, I noticed that a lot of blogs are doing their ‘best of 2008…so far’ lists about now since we’re half way through the year, so I’m gonna blindly follow suit. Well, maybe not so blindly, since I’m gonna allow you to share stuff that you got this year…but didn’t necessarily have to have come out this year. But it can be new too. Whatever you want, because Sh*t L*sts are all about YOU!
So my list is probably gonna be a mix of new and old, cuz that’s just where I’m at. Just click on through after the MGMT album pic below to see my list (which I’m starting to compile in my head as I write this), and then leave your list in comments.
I kept wanting to post something today, and I just kept becoming more and more lethargic. It must be my feelings of insecurity, constant reminders of mortality, and lack of groceries that is strangling my keyboard. No word yet from my specialist. Ummm, this is pretty wild, but I just found that hip Brooklyn blog-rag, Brooklyn Vegan, is reporting (in multiple posts) about unhip iconic progressive rock band, Yes, in a non-ironic or negative way! The posts are regarding Yes’ 40th Anniversary tour starting this June. Of course half of the comments are negative and as simple and creative in their negativity as ‘NO!’
